How the Orange (Skin) Vector Helps and Hinders Us in Managing Life Events

This article provides a detailed analysis of the influence of the Orange Vector in its harmonious (accepted) and disharmonious (unaccepted) states. You will be able to understand why many of your desires or dreams don’t materialize as quickly as you’d like, and what can be done about it.

Read about how the Skin Vector helps us achieve our goals at the end of this article.

But now, let’s get to the most interesting part:

How the Orange (Skin) Vector HINDERS Us from Managing Events and Creating Our Future

1. The Pressure of Logic

From the book, you know that the Orange vector is the most logical of all eight vectors. It excels at solving work-related and everyday problems where all the options can be calculated. But in the realm of life where we create our future (even the immediate future — what will happen in an hour), ordinary logic doesn’t work!

Just as Newtonian mechanics doesn't apply in the realm of high speeds or at the level of extremely small or large masses (like at the atomic or galactic scale), this doesn't stop us from using Newton’s laws for 95% of daily tasks.

In life, this manifests as the Orange person being unable to accept developments that don’t fit their logical framework. Even when results are obvious, they continue repeating to themselves: “This can’t be happening because I don’t understand how it’s happening.”

This inner resistance can be so strong that the Orange person literally turns away from their dream or goal, like a parent turning away from a child born in a way they don’t understand.

And even if they do accept the “miracle” that has occurred, they still don’t feel fully satisfied, because they didn’t use their primary tool — logic.

When working with such clients, whether in groups or one-on-one, I often have to convince them that in the layer where we truly manage the events of our lives, logical laws do exist — but they are slightly different. And what reassures the skeptical Skin vector individuals is the fact that these laws always work (when applied correctly).

2. Rigid Boundaries and Rules

Rigid boundaries play a dual role in the life of an Orange (Skin) person. On the one hand, they provide a foundation to lean on when they're not ready to make choices independently. It’s simple: follow the established rules, and everything will be “correct.” On the other hand, these same boundaries prevent them from breaking through familiar barriers and reaching for the stars — or even daring to dream about it.

Moreover, these boundaries and rules for the Orange individual are always external, meaning they’re not self-imposed.

A Brown (Anal) person also relies on rules, but only those they’ve processed internally and personally confirmed as right. We’ll dive deeper into this topic when discussing the Anal vector.

The Skin person, however, always knows exactly what’s “right” and what’s not — and not just for themselves but for those around them as well. They’re ready to defend this without question. If someone forcibly strips the Orange person of this “support,” it can quickly lead to a neurotic state. For them, personal growth consists of learning to question long-held beliefs. After all, life is full of "incorrect rules"…

This trait is especially dangerous for professionals who work with people, such as psychologists or therapists. I admit that early in my career, I was guilty of this too (thanks to my naturally strong Skin vector). I used to try to “guide” the client in the direction I believed was right. But that was 20 years ago.
Today, I never assume what is “good” or “right” for a client, even if the answer seems obvious from the start. I always follow the client, focusing on the direction where their strength lies. In the same situation, another person might find their strength in an entirely different place.

3. Narrow Comfort Zone

In my seminars and trainings we often discuss the concept of the "comfort zone." This refers to the desired events, people, or things that are not yet part of our current reality but that we can easily imagine integrating into our lives. Expanding this comfort zone is a fascinating tool that allows us to invite our deepest dreams and goals into our lives with minimal effort.

The Orange (Skin) vector, however, stands out for having a very narrow comfort zone (in contrast to the Red vector, which has an exceptionally wide one). This narrowness partly stems from a lack of imagination and partly from the dominance of logic. For Skin people, it’s difficult to imagine something or someone significantly different from what they already have today entering their life.

Due to their heightened skin sensitivity, Orange individuals are highly attuned to the space around them, whether it's objects, people, or events. But this sensitivity is limited to their immediate surroundings. Their connection with anything beyond that proximity is much weaker.

4. Orientation to the Opinions of Others

“What will my parents/friends/colleagues think if I start living (acting) differently? How can I explain to them that I can achieve much more not through my actions (or even decisions) but through my state of being (my attitude toward events)? They will probably say that I’ve joined some sort of cult…”

I often encounter such doubts from my Orange (Skin) clients, and it’s understandable since the Skin vector is the most socially dependent of all. (In this sense, it is closely related to the Green and Black vectors, which will be discussed in separate articles.)

For Orange individuals, the opinions of others are extremely important, not only concerning their achieved goals but also regarding their actions along their life path. This makes them the direct opposite of the "cynical" Red vector, for whom the ends often justify the means.

The constant process of “cross-checking” their actions against the opinions of others drains a lot of energy from the Orange individual and prevents them from looking beyond the horizon, as most people around them do not look there either...

5. Desire to Retain Energy

The Orange (Skin) vector has quite a specific relationship with energy (whether it be financial, sexual, or related to personal relationships). It pays excessive attention to retaining what it already has. Consequently, it lacks the strength to attract something new into its life. This way of handling resources prevents the Skin vector from getting more out of life; they constantly “hit” a ceiling in their career, finances, relationships, and self-realization.

  • They cling so tightly to their current job (even if it is unsatisfying) that they fail to allow their Dream Job to come into their life.
  • They hold on so firmly to their existing relationships (in which “not everything is so bad”) that their true soulmate never enters their life.
  • They are so protective of their current money that they refuse to invest it in their Dream Project.

In this sense, the opposite vector is the Red one, which can channel enormous amounts of energy but struggles to hold onto anything. Therefore, the combination of these two vectors — whether in one person or in a couple — creates tremendous potential, provided they can find harmony with each other.

6. Grip of Reason (Desire to Keep Everything Under Full Control)

The word "grip" perfectly describes the Orange (Skin) approach to life. Notice that this is not the Red desire to control (people, situations, or life itself). Instead, it’s a classic Orange impulse to oversee everything that happens—not to direct things where I want them to go, but to check that I am not straying from my plan. And believe me, this requires constant engagement of the mind. The Urethral type can generate an idea, gather people, start a project, and then go take a break. The Skin type cannot do this! And therein lies the problem.

Their mind is constantly comparing two pictures: "what is written in the plan" and "what is happening in life." As soon as a discrepancy arises (and it inevitably does when Life itself comes to meet us), the Orange vector kicks in and starts to "fix the picture." And that’s that…

In my trainings, I even have a special anti-tool called “How to Ruin Your Own Happiness.” It specifically addresses the behaviors of Orange and Brown vectors, who also struggle with this mindset toward life.

7. Concept of Balance

The Orange (Skin) vector has a rather specific understanding of balance. It must clearly comprehend why something it has dreamed of is entering its life (for what merits). If it decides that it has received a certain “gift” from Life “undeservedly,” it will experience a profound internal discomfort, very similar to feelings of guilt. And you probably know that in response to feelings of guilt, Life often presents us with a “punishment.” This is why there are popular beliefs like “for everything good, you must pay.” This is a typical Orange perspective on life, and it manifests in this way for Orange individuals. It is not some kind of mysticism, but rather an entirely logical law of life, albeit functioning on a different level.

If this last point resonates with you, I suggest a simple exercise. Recall all the failures, grievances, misfortunes, and sufferings you have already experienced from the moment of your birth to today. Then simply decide (proclaim) that you have already paid enough to receive everything for which God gifted you with Life. It is at that moment that balance will be restored, and the Skin vector will have no grievances against you.

How the Orange (Skin) Vector HELPS Us Manage Events and Create Our Future

1. Awareness

Perhaps the greatest advantage of the Orange vector is its ability to live in the present. Unlike the Brown vector, which is focused on the past, and the Red vector, which looks to the future, the Orange vector is primarily interested in the current moment.

This presence in the here and now allows individuals to remain aware (that is, to "not fall asleep while awake")—not all the time, but at least for a significant portion of their lives. Awareness provides the opportunity to manage events and create one's future according to personal desires.

For this reason, many philosophical and religious teachings emphasize the importance of mindfulness. Similarly, the lack of awareness in people is often advantageous for those who seek to control them.

Only two vectors can boast of their awareness: the Orange and the Blue vectors. However, the Blue vector tends to be too immersed in itself, making it less connected to reality. So, draw your own conclusions about who holds all the aces.

2. High Sensitivity

Thanks to its heightened skin sensitivity, the Orange vector can finely perceive changes in the surrounding world. However, it has underdeveloped intuition, meaning it cannot foresee the future as the Violet vector does. Nonetheless, all major events or changes in our lives begin with a barely noticeable "whiff of wind." At this stage, it’s still possible to influence or at least prepare for them. Unfortunately, we often miss this moment and only notice the "storm" when it’s already too close. As a result, we are left with neither the time nor the resources to respond appropriately.

Thus, the Orange vector "feels with its skin" that something is starting to happen. Its logical mind immediately constructs a thousand combinations. It is fully focused and ready to react instantly to protect itself and its values. It’s no coincidence that many great military leaders possessed not only the Red vector but also a prominent Orange one.

In reality, the Orange vector could feel the surrounding world even more deeply, but its specific rational mind dismisses all sensations that do not fit into conventional logic. This, by the way, is part of a certain maturity (evolution) of the skin vector: when it becomes ready to trust its feelings about the world around it, even if the mind has not yet found a coherent explanation for them.

3. "Proper" Control

Another advantage of the Orange vector is its capacity for control. Yes, the same "excessive" control I mentioned earlier can be directed in a "correct" manner, transforming it into an effective tool for managing events.

So, what does this "correct" direction entail? What can or should we control?

  • First: Your Thoughts. As Buddhists say, "You can't stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can prevent it from building a nest in your hair." We have an incredible ability to manage our thoughts. While this isn't always easy — especially in stressful situations. But it is always possible. The Orange vector can excel in this area like no other. They just need to learn to shift their focus (or control) from external events to their own thoughts.

  • Second: Your "Priorities." This refers to the things (states, people, and events) that hold particular significance for us. The need to diminish the "importance" of certain things is discussed in countless books, but few offer concrete methods on how to do this. My approach is straightforward and practical: to reduce importance, you need a "backup option." The Orange vector, with its rational mind, can not only come up with one but also articulate this backup option clearly. Additionally, the ability to promptly "pull out of your pocket" this backup option (i.e., to recreate that image in your mind) is one method of managing your thoughts. This process takes only a few seconds or minutes but can radically change the situation you find yourself in.

  • Third: Your Emotions. However, it's crucial not to confuse control over emotions with their suppression or repression. Suppressed emotions can lead to health issues, but they won’t help you succeed in managing events. Emotions should be fully experienced—100%. This creates a paradox: you need to control, yet you shouldn’t suppress… Crazy? Not at all.  A few years ago, I described an interesting tool for working with emotions that allows you to remain the master of the situation while granting you complete freedom to express any emotions.
